From Slave to Shepherd: The Mercy of Callixtus
Servant once lost in debt’s dark night,
He bore the burdens fate assigned,
Yet rose to guide the souls in plight,
With mercy’s balm for hearts resigned.
He ruled with open arms and grace,
Forgiving sins once barred by fear;
Against stern judgment he gave space,
Welcoming all who drew him near.
He tended graves, the silent throng,
Built rest for martyrs in his care;
Then offered up his life in song
To join them in the eternal share.
Thrown down and buried, yet his bones redeemed,
Callixtus lives — in mercy undimmed.
